HOLY
CROSS
ELEMENTARY
SCHOOL
Through the efforts of Offshore
Energy Center Board Member Mr. Burt Adams, Holy Cross Elementary School hosted
the Offshore Energy Center's $1.2 million traveling educational exhibit for
fifth and six graders today. The Mobile Offshore Learning Unit (MOLU) teaches
about energy concepts and is sponsored by Devon Energy Corporation, Dominion
Exploration & Production, ExxonMobil, Halliburton, Marathon Oil Company and
Schlumberger.
During the visit, 5th and 6th grade
students were given a take-home "passport" containing questions and
information correlated to the six MOLU stations. Students answered questions
in the passport as they moved from station to station and engaged in hands-on
activities designed to teach them about the oil industry from oil formation
within the earth, through the retrieval and distillation process,
and culminating with making students aware of the importance of and the many
products derived from oil.
