I.       INTRO

Our theme for this year,

"We Gather In Jesus’ Name",

will be developed throughout the year as the family of Holy Cross Elementary

comes together to experience prayer, learning, and joy.  May we grow in the love

and peace of God our Father, Jesus our model, and the Holy Spirit, our guide.

I ask for your openness and care as we journey through the 2010-2011 school

session.  Your children are precious to us and we thank God for the wonder

of each life!

III.    SAFE ENVIRONMENT

Our Diocese requires that all adults working with children in our schools

(paid employees and VOLUNTEERS) participate in a Safe Environment process.

A.  For those parents who have not gone through the initial process,

a pre-training  packet must be completed and returned promptly.

          1)  Criminal History Check

          2)  Volunteer Profile

          3)   3  References

          4)   Questionnaire & Statement

After the forms are submitted and processed through the diocese,

parents will receive an authorization letter so that they may

     complete the training on-line.

(Pre-training packets will be available on tuition day.)

B.  For those parents who have completed the initial process, you

must go on-line to www.htdiocese.org .  Click on the Safe

Environment page, Safe & Sacred, and follow instructions for

Continuing Ed.  When completed, a certificate can be printed.

     Bring this to the school.

IV.     THE FOLLOWING DETAILS WILL ENABLE OUR BEGINNING TO BE A SMOOTH ONE.

YOUR ATTENTION TO THESE REQUESTS IS MOST

IMPORTANT.

WEDNESDAY, July 28- Tuition Day

All parents (pre-school through grade 6) are asked to come to school between the

hours of 7:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.  At this time...

 A.     ALL PARENTS ARE ASKED TO:

1)       Make August tuition payment.

Rates for the full year are:  **

          (Pre K3 - 6), Catholic - $2650.00

          (Pre K3 - 6), Non-Catholic - $3000.00

Monthly Rates are: **

          Pre K3 – 6th , Catholics- $265 per month, per child for 10 months

Pre K3 - 6th , Non-Catholics- $300 per month, per child for 10 months

                  ** NOTE:

The actual cost to educate a child here at Holy Cross Elementary is approximately $1500

above the tuition rate charged for each child.  If you are a parent who is able to incur

this additional expense, I ask that you extend your support to us by including this amount

in with your tuition payment for the 2010-2011 school year.  This would be a major

benefit to Holy Cross.  Call the school should you have any questions.

B.    PARENTS OF ALL PRE-SCHOOL, KINDERGARTEN, FIRST GRADE & GRADE 6 STUDENTS

Bring immunization records to be checked and copied for our

files, if necessary.  STUDENTS CANNOT BEGIN SCHOOL UNLESS

IMMUNIZATIONS ARE COMPLETE.

  C.    PARENTS OF ALL NEW STUDENTS - (Never before enrolled at Holy Cross)

Check with the office in advance to make sure birth certificate, baptismal certificate,

social security, and immunization records are complete.  Please bring these

documents with you if necessary.

ALL INFORMATION MUST BE COMPLETE BEFORE A CHILD BEGINS SCHOOL.

D.      ALL PARENTS WILL RECEIVE

1. Handbook of policies.  Please read carefully and keep for future reference.

Regulations require that you sign a “sign off” stating you have received and read

the handbook.  This “sign-off” form is attached to the handbook and is to be

returned during the first week of school.

2. Extended daycare information

          3. Student supply list (if you don't already have).  Students are expected to have

supplies on the first day of school.

          4. PTP Information- Parents to Promote Holy Cross Elementary.

          5. An opportunity to purchase/order Holy Cross t-shirts/sweatshirts & used uniforms.

          6. An internet agreement, to be completed on this day.

If you cannot come on July 28, (the hours are 7:30 a.m. - 1:3 0 p.m.),

please send a friend, neighbor, or relative.  If that is not possible, please call the

office beforehand at 384-1933, Mrs. Bergeron at 395-2063, or Mrs. Jensen at

384-3046 to make arrangements.  We must hear from everyone--as this is a

confirmation of your registration.  There is a waiting list at some levels, and the

parents are waiting to hear from us in the event that we do have openings.

Therefore, it is important that each of you make contact with the school

by July 28 or before.

CLASS ROSTERS POSTED-MONDAY, AUGUST 2

Class rosters will be posted on the front entrance gate of our school beginning Monday, August 2.  The lists will give teacher and classroom location for each student.  Faculty and staff will be available on the first day of school to direct students to appropriate gathering areas upon arrival at school. The class rosters will also be posted on our web site:  www.holycrosselementary.com

FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL-GRADES 1-6

Grades 1-6 will follow this schedule:

  First day- Monday, August 9- a full day, from 8:00 a.m.- 2:45 p.m.

BUS RIDERS

For our younger students...to aid us in our bus dismissal during the first weeks of school, please pin the name of your child's bus driver, and any details you find necessary, to your child's jumper or shirt.  Information on buses can be obtained from the St. Mary Parish School Board Office. (337-836-9661)

ARRIVAL AND DISMISSAL PROCEDURE

Please consult your handbook on arrival and dismissal procedure.

It is designed for safety.  Your cooperation is vital.  The first week or so will be a little slow until we learn each child's mode of transportation.  With everyone's assistance and patience, the procedure will progress smoothly after the first week or so.  All car riders are to use the main entrance gate area.  Please drive up so that 4 cars can be loaded and unloaded at the same time.  DO NOT USE the Poplar Street gate or the CCHS parking lot--this is hazardous for walkers, bike riders and bus riders.

EVERYONE MUST FOLLOW OUR PROCEDURE IN ORDER FOR IT’S SAFETY DESIGN TO WORK!

NOTE:  Our Pastor’s Request:

Please refrain from talking on cell phones when driving through our arrival and dismissal zone.
